With 98/100 Falstaff-points Willi Bründlmayer's top single vineyard wines, 'Ried Zöbinger Heiligenstein 1ÖTW Riesling Alte Reben' and ‘Ried Kammerner Lamm 1ÖTW Grüner Veltliner' lead the Falstaff list of the best Kamptal DAC wines of vintage 2020. The finally bottled releases have been rated 2 points higher each than when tasted as barrel samples. This is remarkable as it supports Bründlmayer's rather recent decision to release their ‘flagships’ only in the second spring after harvest. Thus, these complex, elegant and long-lived beauties, should receive enough time in the cellar and at least a minimum of bottle ageing. Several hours of decanting for aeration is nevertheless recommended in the first ten years after release!
