Each Sip a Great Wine

September 8, 2023

With immense joy and gratitude we received the news about the unanimous verdict of Austria’s most profiled wine experts on our Ried Heiligenstein 1ÖTW Erste Lage Riesling Alte Reben 2021!

Once again everyone agrees: Bründlmayer & Heiligenstein stand for some of the finest Riesling in the world. “…like a clear mountain lake” writes wine chief editor Willi Balanjuk (100/100P*) in the current issue of A La Carte Magazine 4/23, “each sip a great wine” sums up Vinaria Wine Doyen Dr. Viktor Siegl (*****Top, Vinaria Guide 2023/24**). For all recent Falstaff ratings (here 99/100P***) in Wine Guide 2023/24, please refer to https://www.falstaff.com/en/wineries/weingut-bruendlmayer

For the wine lovers pleasure we juxtapose the tasting notes of maybe the three most experienced Austrian trade journalists (in alphabetic order):

*Willi Balanjuk, A la Carte: "Bright colour, intensive and complex nose, vineyard peaches, melissa, nectarine, mint, quinces, powerful wine, lively structure, dense and elegant flow, tightly woven, mineral finish, reverbing also pink grapefruit and apricot, endless finish, perfect cool Riesling style, like a clear mountain lake!"

***Peter Moser, Falstaff: "Light yellow-green, silver reflections. Dark herbal savouriness, honey blossom, caramel, melon, a bit of papaya, delicate bergamot, multi-faceted bouquet. Juicy, taut, complex, dark mineral, white stone fruit, delicate peach, salty, multilayered, good complexity, certain ageing potential."

**Viktor Siegl, Vinaria: „A bit restrained in the opening, though quickly thawing up and proving extreme complexity, at first it highlights the ubiquitous vineyard peaches, then emphasises the features of dark berries like cassis and blackberries, enormously dense and rich in extract, but never inhibiting the drinking pleasure, crazy finesse and endeavour, each sip a great wine.”
